Today, I have something special for you. I had the pleasure of interviewing the founders of “The Savvy Couple.” They are a married couple who just like many people had debts and were living paycheck to paycheck. This couple hustled hard to get out of debt and now have a very successful online business.
In this interview, they will explain their financial journey and how they took their blogging side hustle and developed a very successful blog and course.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to interview you. I’m so interested to learn more about you and your blog.
Can you tell my readers a little bit about yourself?
Hi! We are Kelan and Brittany Kline. A normally millennial family that used to work normal jobs in law enforcement and teaching.
After college, we had over $40,000 worst of student loan debt and we continued to struggle to pay it off and find meaning in the jobs we had.
So we decided to start a blog in 2016 sharing our journey in personal finance together as a married couple.
Fast forward just two years and we turned our blog into a $10,000/month business that allowed us to become debt-free and both quit our jobs to work on our business full time.
What methods did you use to pay off your Debts?
As soon as Brittany finished her Master’s degree in teaching we started paying off our student loans. Our monthly bill was around $400 and we decided to throw an extra $100 at it to pay it off quicker.
A few years went by and it was depressing seeing the little progress we were making on them. We knew we needed to start a side hustle so we could pay them off faster.
That’s when we started our blog. For the first 9 months, we made ZERO money. We were just hustling, learning, and creating content. We finally made our first $50 and we were hooked. A couple of days later I went to Brittany and told her I needed to quit my job and run our business full time.
Within a couple of months after quitting my job I picked up some freelance work and continued to work on our blog. Then, I started making more money than I was at my previous job. I keep the money going back into the business to keep it growing. I was only taking $1,000/month from the business at the time.
Then we started really seeing growth and our income jumped to $5,000/month from our blog. We decided it was time to attack our student loan debt. At this time we had $25,000 left to pay off. For 5 months straight we threw $5,000 per month at our student loans until they were GONE!
It was one of the most incredible feelings we have ever had. We knew that we just unlocked a totally different level of freedom in our lives.
We knew that becoming debt-free was the key to allowing Brittany to quit her job and join me in the business full-time.
Would you recommend using credit cards? (If so, which ones would you recommend?)
Really depends on your spending habits. If you are carrying a balance month to month then NO you should not use credit cards. Cut them in half and start using your debit card or cash.
If you are responsible and only spend what you know you will pay off each month then yes they are great. We go on 1-2 vacations per year using our credit card rewards. We personally use the Capital One Venture as it gives us the most travel reward with our spending habits.
Do you have an article that you can share about budgeting and saving money?
Of course! We have two huge guides on our blog we would love to share with your readers.
Can you please explain a little bit about your course “The Bloggers Secrets?”
Yes! After years of blogging, we decided it was time to help others become successful bloggers as well.
We took all of our mistakes, lessons, wins, losses, and put them into one course to help newer bloggers avoid the big mistakes and get over the learning curve as fasts as possible.
Our course is really designed to help struggling bloggers turn their blog into a life-changing online business making at least $1,000 per month.
I would like to thank Kelan and Brittany Kline with The Savvy Couple again for taking the time to share their story. I can say that I have taken their course and I have learned so much from them. The Bloggers’ Secrets Course is jam-packed with information that will help you on your blogging journey. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with this course.
