Diners, Drive-ins & Dives Restaurants in Charlotte, NC You Must Try!

Don't keep it a Secret 🤐 Share it With Your Friends!

Who doesn’t love watching Diners, Drive-ins & Dives? Guy Fieri literally has the best job in the world. If you don’t know, he receives emails from customers about meals at restaurants he must try. It’s a win-win-win! The restaurant gets televised attention, Guy gets to build his DDD brand and We get to watch and even visit these restaurants.

My family recently visited Charlotte, NC. As a fan of the show, I researched the best places to visit in Charlotte that had Vegan Options on their menu. I was plesantly surprised how many restaurants actually provide Vegan Options. With my husband being Vegan it is difficult to find Vegan food in Northeast Philadelphia.

Here is a list of Diners. Drive-ins & Dives Restaurants in Charlotte, NC You Must Try:

The Improper Pig

The Improper Pig is serving classic BBQ as well as twists such as southern egg rolls & Korean barbecue salmon.

When Guy Fieri went to this restaurant, he tried the Chow bao Sliders. This dish is a steamed bun stuffed with succulent pulled pork that’s slathered with hoisin sauce and topped with a housemade coleslaw.

I also tried the Chow Boa Sliders with a side of Collard Greens and Macaroni & Cheese.  My husband ordered the Improper Plate w/Smoked Tofu. These items were absolutely delicious and the “Queen B” BBQ Sauce was out of this world.

I highly recommend this restaurant for great North Carolina Bbq that also provides Vegan Options.

*Another must try: Sweet Potato Casserole

Pinky's Westside Grill

The owner/chef of Pinky’s Westside Grill used to run Penguin Drive-In (which closed); used to be a garage that worked on VWs (and hence a VW on the roof).

When Guy went to Pinky’s he tried the Corn Dog Shrimp, Greg’s Pickles, Triple G Burger and the Asian Pork Burger.

We went to this restaurant a few times on our trip. The Greg’s Pickles are absolutely delicious. Me and my husband both really enjoyed the Pimp’n Fries (pimento cheese/vegan pimento cheese, waffle fries with chili/vegan chili) these were literally the best Loaded fries I have ever had in my life.

My husband also had the “Stray Dog” (Vegetarian Dog, topped with vegan chili, mustard, slaw and onion) He threw a few of these down.

I highly recommend Pinky’s Westside Grill, you will not be disappointed.

JJ’e Red Hots is a hot dog joint serving Sahlen’s smokehouse as well as house-made hot dogs and sausages; Guy tried the Kasekriener and Chili Cheese Coney Dog on his DDD Show.

This restaurant does have Vegan Options. My husband loved the “JJ’s “No.1” RED HOT” w/ Vegan Dog (JJ’s Hot Relish, Diced Onions, Yellow Mustard, Dill Pickle Spear). I loved “THE CHAR HEEL (CAROLINA STYLE)” House-made Chili, Slaw, Diced Onions, Yellow Mustard)

These hot dogs bring a nostalgia and you will not be disappointed.

I highly Recommend JJ’s Red Hots.
